The M3UHQ 14MHz Vertical Dipole

The M3UHQ 14MHz Vertical Dipole

This whole antenna cost me less than £20 including all the parts, I did have some random bell wire here and I used that for the two elements which are approx 5.5m each in length, one goes up the pole and the other across he ground.

Parts needed

6m fishing pole
Bell wire or similar
Dipole connector
Coaxial cable
PVC Tape
Ground pole or something to attach it to

Simply measure out two identical lengths of cable, snip the ends for connection to the dipole adapter, the other ends fold in on themselves and add some PVC insulation tape.

Chuck one wire across the ground to act as a radial and the other strap to the pole. Pull the pole sections as you add the cable – I also used PVC tape where the antenna elements meet, however what with recent storms I might make the antenna pop up and down and place the antenna wire cable inside the pole.

Connect both ends to a dipole connector, choose if you need a balun or not, attach to your radio and speak to the World – You might want to use an antenna tuner too.

Let me know how you get on.
